Forgotten Creativity

Since I was young, I always had a fascination with teaching. While a secondary interest, it’s one of the few things that I always came back to.

Over ten years ago I went to Marylhurst University with the goal to get a Bachelor’s in English and then move onto a Master’s program in teaching and / or creative writing. The plan was to be a creative writing or english professor as a “backup” plan while I worked on other things.

At the time I had gotten disillusioned with games and was looking for something that I could always do with my life if things didn’t pan out. Which, frankly, was most things that I had tried.

I dropped out after a year and a half due to many things. Some of those were frustration, financials, being tired of school (this was the fourth college that I attended), and the decision to keep going on games. The other, most important reason, was the ill-conceived belief that the only benefit I was going to get from all this time, effort, and expenses was a piece of paper saying I could do what I already could do.

While that plan didn’t pan out, my desire to still be helpful persisted. Creativity is a part of my soul and I enjoy all aspects of it.

With all the things that have been happening of late, I now have an opportunity to share some of the thoughts and lessons that I’ve picked up over the years.

Something I want to do with this site is express and discuss creativity. I've learned a lot over the years, and I would really like to be a helpful source to others. Creativity can not be taught, but it can be coxed, inspired, and allowed to develop.

While I have no specific timeline for these “creativity posts”, I will post them on a semi-regular basis. In time I might make them a more regular feature.
